President Obama's Address to Children

I am totally puzzled with all of the uproar regarding tomorrow's speech from the President to school children. Just what kind of liberal propaganda message do they think the president is going to give?

Reagan and Bush 1 gave national speeches to school children and can anyone who was in school at that time tell me what they heard and how it inspired or had a negative effect on their lives?

Why all this reaction before the fact?

If people want to criticize the President then let's do it on things he has done or on concrete proposals he has made. This jumping and talking about keeping children home from school is just ridiculous.

If we are to ban our children from listening to addresses from the President, and not trust their parents to discuss the speeches with them, are we also going to ban talk show commentators from the airwaves because of the influence their speeches (rantings and ravings) can have on our children?

Glen Beck called the president a racist, what effect did that have on children? I have not seen any movement to insure that children can no longer listen to Mr. Beck. What about Rush Limbaugh? Some of his comments can be taken as almost treason.

And I am not just picking on the conservatives. The liberals have their big mouths as well with all of their conspiracy theories and fear that the rich want to destroy the poor.

The bottom line is the Constitution and the Bill of Rights which grant ALL Americans the Freedom of Speech. We may not agree with what you have to say, but by God we are suppose to defend your right to say it. The founders of this country, through many years of fighting, discussion and debate knew that not everyone would agree but they did believe that every one's voice should be heard and then it was up to the listener to decide if what was said had value or not.

Today, the biggest proponents of the Freedom of Speech are also the ones who want to limit that freedom to those who do not agree with them.

Why are people afraid of the President speaking to the children? If so many are afraid of what the President is going to say, why did so many vote for him?

True, things are not going down the yellow brick road in DC, but they never do. Politics always rears its ugly head and forces compromise on all idealistic plans.

Let the President speak. Afterwards, you will be free to praise or criticize. Your children will be free to discuss the speech with you and all of you will be able to discuss the pros and cons.

Freedom of Speech, its the one freedom we must always preserve in this country.

Its Common Sense!

The right wing conservatives are still burnt up by Obama's victory. They will try to malign him any which they can because they have nothing else to offer. I think the height of hypocrisy is when one conservative commentator says that Florida Governor is a great leader and is welcome to talk to my kids anytime, but Obama is not. This shows the diseased mindset amongst right wingers.

Democrats like Bacchus are not helping any by criticizing President's health care plan while his own former staff is now on the payroll of insurance companies.
