Unemployment

During his State of the Union Address, President Obama spoke on the unemployment situation and the need to create new jobs. He talked of tax credits for new companies and for companies that move back into the USA.

Many jobs have been lost in this country over the years due to the greed of the owners and the employees/unions. No one ever seemed to be satisfied, both sides always wanted more and rather than compromise, owners either sold out to multi-national corporations or moved their business to a country where they could make $200.00 shoes for .50 a pair. Nothing like a nice profit margin.

Hopefully, those businesses that want to be part of a new economic growth in the country, along with their employees/unions will cooperate from the beginning, making compromises to insure employees are fairly paid and have decent benefits but keep the cost line balanced to keep jobs in this country so that we can once again be selling to the world.

Along with that I am concerned about where the Department of Labor is getting its figures on the number of unemployed in the USA. Today I saw that unemployment dropped to 9.7%. My question is, is this figure based on those who applied for benefits this month, or does this figure show the actual numbers unemployed. My fear is that hundreds of thousands have run out of benefits, given up on employment and are surviving either on Welfare or under the table. If they are not included in the unemployed statistic, then the statistic is worthless.

The government needs to get the actual figure of unemployed so that they can come up with a plan that will truly stimulate the growth of business and jobs in this country.

US Senate wants to Raise Debt Ceiling

One day after the US Senate lost a Democrat and gained a Republican, they started a debate on the value of raising the national debt ceiling by another $1.7 trillion.

Are they out of their minds? The stimulus is not working. The only institutions making money are banks who screwed up, took bailouts and are now paying out super large bonuses.

The US taxpayer has lost out at every end and now the Senate wants to increase our debt even more.

I think the Senate needs to sit down and look at reality. With unemployment the highest in our nation's history, it is going to be a long time before adequate tax dollars start coming in to begin paying off the debt.

Rather than talk about raising the debt, let's start talking about recovering what has been lost through fraud. First Medicare - $60 some million a year, let's get that money back, punish the criminals with real sentences, as well as paying back double what they stole, not a slap on the wrist.

Illegal aliens - if they are working let's get their tax dollars and then they can apply for a visa or get sent home. Let's go after those companies and individuals who hire illegals, make them pay back all back taxes - including Social Security and Medicare - and then fine them equal to the back taxes they owe.

Rather than take the easy way out, let's take the right way out - make those who owe or steal from us pay back everything double.

Senator Mikulski on Bonuses for Bankers

Senator Mikulski responded to my concerns about bonuses for bankers. I find her response weak and it is evident Congress did not think things through before throwing out the bailout money.

Read her response and see if you agree with me.

Dear Mr. Wolfe:

Thank you for getting in touch with me about the bonuses being paid out to executives at financial companies receiving support from the government. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

The taxpayers need to see that the government is serious about being stewards of their money, and corporate America needs a clear message from Congress that they've got to get serious about working with President Obama to get this economy back on track.

People who played by the rules and trying to run a small business don't have access to credit. They're worried about keeping their jobs. They're losing their life savings. They're worried about holding on to their homes or their health insurance. They've seen irresponsible lending practices and watched Wall Street gamble on risky investments. And they've watched those same executives pay themselves lavish salaries.

My priorities for when the government uses taxpayer dollars are transparency, integrity, and accountability. We need to make sure the money is going to good use. I sent a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of AIG asking his employees to voluntarily give up the bonuses.

Knowing of your views is very helpful to me and I will keep them in mind. If you'd like to read more, I encourage you to visit my website where you can read the transcript of my floor statement on this issue and my letter to the CEO of AIG http://mikulski.senate.gov/Newsroom/PressReleases/index.cfm.

Again, thanks for contacting me. Please let me know if I can be of help to you in the future.

Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator

Out Sourcing Workers

Remember when we complained about companies - especially banks - outsourcing jobs, especially in telemarketing. As far as certain industries like steel, productions of clothing, shoes, etc. the majority of that also went overseas where labor is a lot cheaper and there are less rules.

Now, not only are jobs being out sourced, American workers are out sourcing themselves to countries that are in need of their skills and abilities. Three countries opened for skilled labor and technicians are Brazil, Dubai and India, as well as several others along the Pacific Rim. Americans who have been unemployed for months are willing to take a wage drop to be employed. In some cases, based on their skill levels, wages are comparable to what they received in the USA.

Where are the jobs the Obama Administration promised to save and create?

Its a sad commentary that after years of complaining about the labor invasion from the South that our workers are now going to be the labor invasion from the North.

The President, Congress, the labor unions and businesses need to get together, compromise and get American workers working in America soon. If they do not, then we sadly will see the decline not only the decline of the US economy but the decline of the nation as well.

The Public Option

The Health Care Debate continues and now it is Democrat against Democrat in whether a Public or Government financed option needs to be part of the package. Rockefeller of West Virginia wants the government option to follow the payment plan set up for Medicare recipients. Schumer of New York wants to discuss options then come up with a formula.

Of course the big questions is - Who is going to pay for this? Where will the funding come from to initiate this government run Health Care Organization?

Those of us already satisfied with our health plans will not be in favor of our tax dollars, especially increased tax dollars, going to finance this option.

The majority of people who will opt for this option are low income, or unemployed, so they will not be able to pay premiums. (At least Medicare recipients have their Medicare premium deducted from their monthly Social Security check.)

Without increasing taxes I do not believe the government plan will have the funding it needs. All the savings by tightening down on Medicare and Medicaid fraud will not be seen for years, if they ever actually appear.

I agree that all people need health coverage. But let's be honest and say the truth. For health care reform to work all the American public is going to have to pay. There is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that will finance this reform. The only pot of gold is the one from our pay checks, those of us who are lucky enough to be working these days.

The liberals can ask for everything under the sun. What they need to do is explain simply and clearly how they plan on paying for the reform.

Bank Interest Rates

Last night on the news I listened to a story about how the banks - the ones we bailed out - are raising their interest rates on credit cards, because they need to generate quicker income.
They do have a lot of nerve.

It ticked me off so i sent the following epistle off to our friends in D.C. (The President & my representatives.)

Please feel free to use any or all and write to the President and your representatives as well.

Dear Senator
Help me understand why the banks who took my tax money to bail them out of financial ruin are now being allowed to raise the interest rates on credit cards?

Worse, we are not talking about fixed rates, but variable rates which they control.
I have a card with Citi Bank and the interest rate is now 17+%. (I talked to them and got it down to 14+ whoop de do!)

From what I have seen, many of the banks are moving to the plus column. Why are they being allowed to take advantage of the consumer/taxpayer?

On last night's news I learned that the bill you passed to control credit card debt and interest rates does not go into effect until February 2010. By that time the banks will have fixed interest rates at 25+% and they will be able to remain.

To say the least, I am disappointed.

You borrow money from China to bail out the banks, which went into collapse due to greed and mismanagement, and now the taxpayer/consumer is suppose to pick up the pieces, bear the cost and accept all additional burdens.

Once again, middle class American workers have received a royal screwing.
When will the President and Congress consider us? We are not a fatted cow that continually gives. One day we will have nothing left.

The next time you decide to bail out the "big" boys, remember us in the trenches who have to pay for your decisions.

Yours
Michael Wolfe

The Stimulus and the Local Economy

Last evening I spoke to an acquaintance of mine who works for Maryland's State Highway Department. He explained to me that he is part of team putting the final touches on a couple of highway projects that will begin when the state receives its first $3 million infrastructure stimulus money. He is of the opinion that the money will help put people back to work and that it will get the economy moving.

On weekend he works in a convenience store and he told me that since October many of his regular customers had been in to say they were out of work and would no long be regulars.

His point is that if the money from the stimulus actually goes to workers on highway/bridge/tunnel/water work infrastructure projects and into factories and other building projects, then these are the workers who stop and buy gas and coffee etc at convenience stores. These are the people who go grocery shopping on Friday and Saturday, who may need to buy a new car or break down and get a HVD TV. With the right interest rate and loans from the banks they just may be able to buy a home, or at the very least continue paying the mortgage on their current home.

If the money from the stimulus actually goes to workers, then the economy can come back. The key is that the money needs to get in the hands of the people, not financial institutions who will only use it for their own interests or into special political pet projects that have no effect on the general good..

We all need to start monitoring the website Recovery.gov and make sure this money goes where it can do the most good - into the pockets of the American People.

Stimulus Package?

The more I read the more confused I get about this Obama stimulus package. I thought he wanted to do big things with the infrastructure. Now I read that they might raise infrastructure projects to $40 billion, double what it originally was. So what is the other $800 billion to be spent on that will immediately stimulate the economy?

As far as I know there is nothing about mortgage relief, tax breaks, or any kind of reasonable loans starting up any time soon.

Could this entire stimulus be pork? How does that help the country?

Thus far I have not been impressed with the Obama Administration. Two of his cabinet choices have outstanding back tax issues, that they decided to resolve when nominated to be part of the cabinet. Let's face it, if they had been Republicans, Congress would have been all over them.

Obama says he has a plan to stimulate the economy, yet the more you try and learn, the murkier things get.

I am beginning to fear that we are headed into a Depression, unless Obama and the Congress can move quickly and effectively to head it off. Unfortunately, I just do not see the leadership we need presenting itself. Both Pelosi and Reid look like they are more interested in revenge and showing they have the power, rather than doing what is best for the country.

Time will tell, but I think we all better start thinking in terms of a Depression.

Do you agree? Is my thinking flawed?

Share your thoughts and ideas.

We are in this together, we can solve it together.

The Senate and the Stimulus

I sent the following letter to my senators on Sunday February 1 in anticipation of the Senate debate on the $870 billion stimulus package. Please feel free to use all or part in writing to your own senators. We need some answers before they put the national debt out of sight

Dear Senator

I would appreciate if you could provide me a breakdown of just how the $870 billion stimulus package passed by the House and coming to the Senate is going to be spent.

From what I have seen even though a lot of money is being thrown out there, very little is going to do anything to get the economy moving.I want to know why at least half of the money is not earmarked for infrastructure projects.Let's repair the roads, bridges and tunnels across the country. That will offer plenty of employment, and construction workers will guarantee that grocery stores and other retailers stay open.

Little projects to study trout and the like are pork projects that need to be put aside. We need projects that are good for the country as a whole, not a private earmark for some senator or congressman.

All reports indicate that the Congress lost control of the first $700 billion stimulus package - allowing Wall Street and the Banks to do what ever they wanted - which meant paying bonuses but doing nothing for the economy. Where are the loan deals we were promised?

We do not want to see this second package go the same way.You in Congress are creating a debt that will be on our great grandchildren' shoulders. The least you can do is make sure that every penny is to put to the use of stimulating the economy.

We have heard a lot of talk but seen little action or responsibility. Its time you and the rest of Congress started being the guardians of our money.

The power is yours - think as an American first, not as a Democrat.Thank you for your attention.

Economic Stimulus Package

President Obama's stimulus package heads for the Senate this week. It passed the House without a single Republican vote. The Democrats (read Nancy Pelosi) made it clear that they have the power and they can do what they want.

The sad thing is that this package really does little to stimulate the economy. I have seen nothing in the bill that will get large numbers of people working or offer assistance on mortgages. I wish the President would explain just how he thinks spending all this money will help.

We saw $700 billion sucked up by Wall Street and the banks with no result for the public. No better loan rates, (no loans period for the most part) no improvement in the stock market, and no sense of relief in any form.

All we know is that some of our tax money went to pay bonuses. Obama is mad, but I don't see him demanding repayment of any of the money.

I think we need to see exactly how the next $870 billion is to be spent before we give permission to release it to the world.

Write your senators. Ask them to send you a detailed listing of how the money is to be spent.

After all its our money, our tax dollars are going to have to cover it eventually, we should have some say in how it is being spent.

Letter to Congress regarding Stimulus 2

In talking with a co-worker this week they mentioned they did not understand why people were talking about raising taxes or asking for loans from foreign countries, when in all probablity the money could be found in the current budget, give the government was held accountable for their spending.

Believe there is some validity to that and decided to ask my representatives just what was being done within government to control wastful spending. I also sent a copy of the letter to Change.gov, a website Obama's transition team is using for ideas.
As always feel free to us all or any of this letter in contacting your representaives.
They work for us, they need to give us answers.
Its Common Sense!

On Tuesday President Obama begins his new administration and we all know that his top priority is getting the economy back on track. He proposes a stimulation package that has a price tag somewhere between $800 billion and $1 trillion. We have heard a lot of deficit verses surplus, but there has not been a lot of talk regarding the overall American debt if this stimulus passes. Will we owe creditors $10 or $11 trillion dollars? What are the payback terms? What are the interest rates? What is the burden for my great grandchildren?

To pass the stimulus the USA will have to once again borrow from foreign nations, notably China, who I think we are becoming too dependent upon. In addition, we are going to have to start talking about raising taxes, not lowering them. Before either step is taken, if the President and Congress are serious about fiscal responsibility and everyone doing their part, then I think the first place we should look for the funding is within the Federal Government itself.

We all know about the wasteful spending that goes on in government. Agencies giving large amounts of overtime to employees who are no rated based on production and accuracy and who are pretty much free to do what they want. If employees are held to task, most of these overtime dollars would not be needed.

Everyone knows that the Defense Department abuses its budget no end. All of these contracts where the contractors never produced the final product with the money they bid. Instead they always are over budget. I believe now is the time to hold all contractors working for the government to live up to their contracts. If they cannot perform the task at the price they quoted, then the problem is theirs, not the American taxpayer.

Honest bids for honest work. No more coming back and expecting additional money because they erred when making their bid. These are professionals who know what they are doing, its time to stop them from milking the national purse.

Congress itself needs to look at the money being spent there. Are all these foreign junkets really necessary? Congress needs to lead the way in tightening the belt.Does Congress's health care plan cost the same as that offered to Federal employees? If it costs more and has better coverage, then it should be given to all Federal workers, or, better yet, Congress should be covered like the rest of Federal employees - more savings.

Before our country goes hat in hand, let's trim government spending and see just how much money is available with a fiscally responsible government. Let's hold all departments responsible for what they spend and let them justify how their money is used.Legitimate needs stay covered, frills go out the door.

Do not vote to raise (beg) additional money until you know how much the government can provide itself by spending responsibly.

The initial stimulus package that Congress told us would do so much, has thus far produced no positive results and has only raised more doubts and questions.

Before you allow Congress to commit to an even greater burden on the people, make sure you have done everything to use the funds already available before reaching out for more.

Thank you,Michael Wolfe

Free Trade

George W is in Peru and the Asian Pacific Summit talking about the importance of free trade among nations to stimulate the world economy. I know that earlier this year the USA set up agreements with Peru, Panama and Colombia.

What I am not sure about is how exactly free trade works. Does this mean that no tariffs are involved? That the manufacturers can simply send their products to the participating countries with only the manufacturers making or losing a profit? Shouldn't the governments be making something out of the deal?

Not being a financial wizard, I would like any of you who have an idea of what free trade involves to write in and explain it to all of us. Please do it in simply language, I heard some of the finance boys on the talk shows going on and got completely confused.

Enjoy your weekend and stay warm.

Economy - Not bad everywhere

Last night my wife and I decided to go out to dinner after completing a series of errands. We have not been out to dinner since August.

We went to the local Applebys and were surprised to find the parking lot filled and a twenty minute wait for a table. When we left we past a few other small chain restaurants - Ruby Tuesday and Bob Evans - and saw their parking lots were also filled. However, one of the fancier restaurants in the area closed last week because of lack of customers.

So it appears that people are willing to get out for dinner if they can keep it under 20 bucks a person.

Of course that is not the case in all parts of the country and as the bad economic news continues we will have to wait and see what over all effect it has on the country.

We will see what comes out of the summit in DC this weekend and if the world leaders can come up with a plan that will help everyone. I have a feeling greed and national pride will win out and that in the end it will be every country for themselves. Of course, maybe I'm just a Negative Nelly.

Have a good weekend, enjoy your family and friends and thank God for another day of life.

Transition

The transition began for real with Obama's visit to the White House. In the past this was done in December but President Bush had President-Elect Obama show up as soon as possible. You have to wonder just how eager George W is to get to the ranch in Crawford and dump everything in Obama's lap.

Obama will be gaining additional economic woes. It appears that AIG needs more money and rather than a bailout, the US government is going to buy stock. Let me know when your stock certificates arrive in the mail.

Circuit City has declared bankruptcy, doesn't appear that it is going to be a very Merry Christmas for a lot of folks.

The three major US automakers are looking for loans. I think they should be forced to produce natural gas burning cars within the year before any loans are approved. I also believe that Obama should allow the oil companies to do their drilling, so long as they guarantee that every gas station they own - and the independents they provide fuel to - will have at least two natural gas pumps operating within one year. Let the auto companies and oil companies put up or shut up before they receive anything else from the government.

We all will have to see what kind of deals are around for "Black"Friday. (I hate those early morning specials where you have to be at the store at 5am.)

Finally, Joe Biden won his Senate seat from Delaware. So the question is who will serve in his place? I am curious to see if the governor of Delaware appoints Biden's son to fulfill the term. Perhaps this is the beginning of a Biden dynasty from the First State.

Tomorrow we celebrate Veteran's Day, remembering those brave men and women who have served their country in the military since 1776. Take a moment tomorrow to thank them for their many sacrifices. It is because of them that people like me are free to write and say what I want. Our military may make mistakes, but overall they are a fine group of dedicated individuals who deserve our respect.

2nd Presidential Debate

Last night was the second of the three presidential debates. I like the town hall format. I think it would have been better if the questions had not been screened and if the candidates could have talked and responded to one another without worrying about time restraints. They repeated a lot of the same material from the first debate and really had very little new to offer. Once again they were very weak on specifics, although both of them do not seem to realize their is an economic crisis because they both want to spend, spend, spend. Where is the money coming from?

McCain with his "I know how to do this." never explained how he was going to do anything, except buy more bad mortgage loans. I thought we had that covered in the $700 billion, evidently there is still more money they want us to spend. This is turning into a nightmare that will never end.

For his part Obama liked repeating things. I wish he would have explained his tax plan in specifics. Like will the 95% under $250,000.00 all get the same tax break, or will the lower income rung of the 95% do better than the upper rung of the 95%

Both of them could have offered more specifics on energy independence. Both of them should talk with T. Boone Pickins. Maybe he should be the Secretary of Energy. I would have liked to hear just where and when the nuclear power plants were going to be, when would wind technology get moving, how soon could our reserves of natural gas be tapped and made available? How long would it take for our automobile industry to convert engines for natural gas, and how long would it take for gas stations to switch from liquid to gas?

(An aside. Since Ford has already asked for a loan, Chrysler has always been on shaky ground, and GM can't be far behind, should the American car companies join ranks and begin producing one excellent small car, an excellent sedan, an excellent station wagon and an excellent SUV, all in a decent price range and maybe offer some serious competition to their Asian and European competitors?)

McCain showed some passion speaking on foreign affairs and Obama showed a little spunk when he defended himself against some of McCain's accusations.

Over all, once again I was disappointed . I believe the majority of the media gave Obama a victory but the reality is that neither man showed much of anything. Unfortunately, neither man appeared presidential or gave me a feeling that they were the one to lead my country.

I spoke with one of my aunts yesterday, an elegant lady in her late eighties who told me she had received her absentee ballot and that in the column under the presidential candidates she looked for the box that said "None of the above"

I agree with her. For a country as great as we are, I cannot understand why we cannot find a charismatic man or woman to lead us out of the mess we are in.

When was the last time you heard one of the candidates say something that really inspired you and made you want to get out and make your country a better place.

Sarah Palin is drawing record crowds not because she is charismatic but rather because she is so different from the Washington crowd that regardless of how little she knows and now inexperienced she is, she is still a refreshing change. I found it interesting that some of the commentators are saying the Republican ticket should read Palin / McCain if they want to close up the standing in the polls. Does this mean I want Sarah Palin near the White House? Heavens no, but the fact is we all want and deserve something better that what we are being offered.

One more debate next week. I have no high hopes, but maybe, just maybe we'll get some specifics.

Remember to write your senators and congressional representatives and demand that AIG give the loan money back - especially the $440,000.00 spent at the spa.

As I have stated in the past, let's vote out all of the incumbents and bring in a fresh team. They sure can't do any worse and maybe they can do better since they aren't corrupt (yet).

Pay attention, read, get the facts.

Its Common Sense.

Presidential Debate #1

Last night was the first of the three presidential debates. Along with my wife, we watched the entire thing, as well as the commentaries afterwards on CNN and MSNBC.

I give kudos to Jim Lehrer for trying to get the candidates to actually face off one against the other and let some passion flow. Unfortunately the only passion I saw was when McCain spoke about the surge in Iraq.

I think at the next debate the candidates should be seated at a table, facing one another, so that they will be forced to have eye contact and get into a serious discussion, hopefully where they will be forced to get down to specifics. They need to make this personal, this is about the two of them, who they are, not some lofty goals.

Contrary to many of the commentators I did not see either one as the victor. Of course, the fact that I saw them as pretty even I guess means that Obama did better on foreign affairs than expected.

Over all I was disappointed in that both avoid specifics.

After asking their views on the bailout and if they would support what Congress proposes, Jim Lehrer asked which of their programs would be affected due to lack of funding.

McCain talked of freezing most programs, with the exceptions of defense and veteran spending.

Obama admitted some of his programs would be delayed but that he planned to pushed through health care and education - the two high ticket items on his agenda.

Is it possible that neither man gets the fact that Americans are tired of bailing everybody in world out of trouble and leaving ourselves with a hopeless deficit? McCain mention at one point the $500 billion we owe China. He didn't mention the other countries holding our securities.

We can not continue to do crazy spending until we get control of our debt.

My view of their positives and negatives.

Barack Obama

Economy

Positive - Wants to work out tax breaks for 95% of Americans. Plans to veto entitlements, restrict loopholes for big business and look into cutting government wasteful spending practices.

Make Iraq start paying for the war out of their oil surplus.

Negative - Does not explain where the money is going to come from to pay for his programs if the majority of taxes are going to be cut. Also makes no mention of how he plans to start paying off the deficit.

Foreign Affairs

Positive - Concentrate on stabilising Afghanistan and eliminating the bin Laden, Al Quada, Taliban threat in that part of the world. Wants to meet with allies and improve the world image of the USA.

Negative - Lack of experience about foreign relations. Although in a debate with Hilary Clinton he stated that he would meet with no pre-conditions with the leaders of countries hostile to the USA, last night he tried to give a different spin. Admit that you were wrong and move on.

John McCain

Economy

Positive - Veto entitlements and clean up up wasteful government spending by revamping Federal Agencies and holding them accountable.

Negative - Still wants to give breaks to big business without holding them accountable.

Foreign Affairs

Positive - He's been everywhere and knows everyone. Even though I was against the war in Iraq since day one, he was right about the surge and just maybe the USA will be able to withdraw with a victory.

Negative - Still seems to be a victim of the Evil Empire mentality.

Overall I was disappointed. Obama came across as an aloof college professor.

As much as I hate to admit this, McCain came across as a tired old man, repeating himself and at times losing his train of thought.

Oh well, two more debates to go. Hopefully things will get better.

This coming Thursday night debate between Palin and Biden should be really entertaining, if nothing else. (Maybe she will wear her bathing suit and bring her rifle.)

In all the furor over the presidential election, let's not forget that there are also races for the Senate and Congress. We should take a careful look at these candidates as well. Maybe its time to do some "House" cleaning.

Keep informed, ask questions, and don't rush into any decisions.

It's Common sense.

Debate

McCain says he may not debate tomorrow night. What is he afraid of? We all know that the government needs to make decisions on the bailouts. In truth, I thought that Obama and McCain should have been invited over the weekend to meet with Bush and Paulson to see what the options are. After all, one of them is going to be stuck with the results of the bailout, not Bush.

I agree that coming to a practical plan is important. I feel that Obama and McCain should make their contributions. But the truth of the matter is that neither one of them heads a senate committee that ties in directly to the bailout, so they can advise from a distance, they do not have to be in D.C.

Its forty days until the election. The the voters have the right to see our candidates in action. We need to hear them respond to real questions about the current world and home situations. To be a President you have to multi-task. You should be able to participate in a 90 minute debate and have aides to keep you informed of any crisis in the world.

Our economy is vital to everything our country does. You can not have much of a foreign policy if you do not have the cash to back it up. How our economy stands will determine what we can do outside our borders. After all, if there is no cash, we can not supply aide to Georgia, Afghanistan and other hard pressed allies.

I feel that a debate about foreign policy will have no problem incorporating a check on the status of the current economic situation. After all, nothing stands alone anymore, everything goes hand in hand.

McCain and Obama need to debate to allow the voters the opportunity to see how they act under pressure, what they know and do not know, and to see just how honest (or at least how honest they appear to be) they are in what they have to say.

I feel we would be better served if we could witness two debates a week until the election. Political commercials are junk, I don't believe any of them, or pay any attention to them. What I do pay attention to is how the candidate reacts responding to questions, especially if the commentators press for specifics.

Whoever wins this election is inheriting a mess and four hard years. We have to make sure the winner is the one we feel can do the job.

Let them talk, but ask specifics and let's make sure they are held accountable for the promises they make.

The President works for us - let's hire the best man for the job!!

Its Common Sense.
